One queue, not four lists

Most planning apps give you a list per kind of thing. Tasks here, habits there, goals in a third place, each with its own screen and its own sense of progress. It looks organised. Then the day starts and you have to do the one thing the app never does for you: decide what happens next.

Ambi puts the day in one queue.

A task, a habit, and the next step of a goal all land in the same ordered list, in the order you will actually do them. Not three lists you reconcile in your head at eight in the morning. One list, top to bottom, with a timer on the row you are on.

Why the kinds stop mattering at the moment of doing

The distinction between a task and a habit is real when you are planning. A habit repeats, a task does not; a goal step belongs to something larger. That matters when you set things up, so Ambi keeps Tasks, Habits and Goals as their own tabs, where you shape them.

It stops mattering the moment you sit down to work. “Read 20 pages” and “Call the bank” are, right then, the same kind of object: a thing that takes some minutes and is either done or not. Sorting them into different screens at that moment does not help you. It just makes you look in three places to answer one question.

What the queue costs

Being honest about the trade: a single queue means order has to be decided. Four lists let you avoid that decision forever, which is comfortable and useless. The queue makes you put things in a sequence, and it shows you the count and the time left at the top, so an overloaded day looks overloaded instead of looking like four reasonable lists.

That is the point. A day you cannot fit is information, not a failure.

What it does not do

The queue does not reorder itself behind your back, and nothing is scored. If you skip an item it stays where it is. If you ask Ambi in the chat to move something, it moves, and it tells you what changed. There is no streak to protect and no number that judges the day.

One queue, in the order you will do it. Everything else in the app exists to fill it.

Be first when it ships.
